Just like my grandmother, who was the inspiration behind the story for The Shanghai Wife, I left my hometown of Sydney to explore the world, settling in London for 10 years where I trained and worked as a journalist for The Financial Times Group and the BBC. I returned to Australia when my son was a toddler, as a single mother in need of the support of my family and the sunshine for my son. I picked up my career with News Limited and the SBS before remarrying and having my two beautiful daughters, whose arrival gave me the chance to break from work and try my hand at writing.
If I could write every day I would, but my other jobs - being a mother and also a digital storyteller, take up my time. So, like many working mothers, I juggle my priorities with smiles and shouting, usually more of the former I’m pleased to report!
I’m currently working on my second novel. I can’t wait to share it with you!
